Wellness Screenings
Wellness screenings motivate your employees to monitor their health. After a wellness screening, employees feel encouraged to set goals and change their behaviors due to test results. Wellness screenings can identify pre-existing health problems, assess risk factors for disease, and provide recommendations on your current health that will guarantee a healthier lifestyle.
Wellness Screenings include:
- Glucose (GLU)
- Total Cholesterol (TC)
- High Density Lipoprotein (HDL)
- TC/HDL Ratio
- Triglycerides (TRG)
- Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL)
- Blood Pressure
- Resting Heart Rate
- Height
- Weight
- Body Mass Index (BMI)
- Body Fat Percentage
- Waist-to-Hip Ratio
- Health Risk Assessment (HRA), hard copy or on-line.
Why should you have your cholesterol and blood glucose checked?
- High cholesterol can lead to heart disease
- High blood glucose is a sign of diabetes
- Untreated diabetes can lead to kidney failure and heart disease
Glucose (GLU) is a measure of the sugar level in your blood. Fasting glucose levels should be below 110mg/dL. High values are associated with eating before a test, and diabetes.
Total Cholesterol (TC) is made up of both "good" and "bad" cholesterol, and is a measure of the total amount of cholesterol in your blood at a given time. TC is measured in milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL). Total Cholesterol of less than 200 mg/dL is desirable.
High Density Lipoprotein (HDL) is the "good" cholesterol that removes excess cholesterol from your arteries and moves it to the liver where it can be eliminated from the body.
TC/HDL Ratio is total cholesterol divided by HDL cholesterol. A lower ratio is associated with a lower risk of developing heart disease.
A Lipid Profile is a detailed measure of the fats in your blood. It measures your total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides and calculates your LDL cholesterol. The National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) recommends a lipid profile as the initial test for coronary heart disease.
Triglycerides (TRG) are composed of glycerol and fatty acids. Like cholesterol, they circulate in your blood but are stored in body fat and used when the body needs extra energy. Your triglyceride level significantly increases after you eat but will decrease naturally if your body processes fat efficiently.
Low Density Lipoprotein (LDL) is the "bad" cholesterol, which contributes to the buildup of fat deposits in your arteries (atherosclerosis). This can cause decreased blood flow and heart attack.
Screenings take approximately 15 minutes per person. All screenings include an on-the-spot follow-up consultation accompanied by patient education information for the person to take with them after the screening. Cholesterol results are produced within the screening time frame and delivered to the participant. Health Risk assessments are to be completed by the employee. Once complete the employee will receive their wellness score and health information based on the score. They can either print it or if on a hard copy, it will be mailed in a secure envelop directly to the employee.
Additional Screenings
Blood pressure and BMI/Body Fat readings can be done on-site as scheduled by client. Fitwell can perform these screenings in 5 minute increments per employee.
Personal Wellness Profile Executive Summary
By comparing wellness and clinical factors throughout the company, we can better understand the specific needs of your employees and track long-term wellness progression, company-wide.
An Executive Summary will provide an overview of the health and interests of the employees. Aggregate data of the employee health risk assessments will be sent to leadership to help mold the wellness programs based on the needs and wants of the company and its employees.
